Destination Background:

The Papagayo Peninsula is located on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica and is in the northwest province of Guanacaste. Located in the Golfo de Papagayo, which formed over time due to the climate and volcanic activity in the area, the Peninsula provides 15 miles of clear as crystal coastline. There are 31 separate beaches that offer a sanctuary from the major swells and waves that are common for surfers along the southern coast.

Where We Would Stay: Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo

Andaz Costa Rica Resort At Peninsula Papagayo Resort captures the native spirit of Costa Rica with its distinctive "Pura Vida" philosophy. “Pura Vida”, meaning "Pure Life," ensures the quality of your experience is authentic, but also beautifully breathtaking. Guests are surrounded by lush nature at every turn — the calm and relaxing ocean sheltered by the mountains in the background provides a haven to guests who crave seclusion and tranquility.

The resort has 153 deluxe rooms, designed to integrate comfort with the local indigenous culture. Images of animals found in the tropical forest are peppered throughout the beachfront property, making each room feel like it is one with the peninsula and its natural vegetation. The open-air lobby welcomes guests into a barrier-free environment. There is a sense of informality and homeyness with the lack of desks and standard hotel furnishings. The space and design makes you feel like you are a part of the community and inspires guests to do as the locals do while they are staying at this magical resort.
