Turks & Caicos Islands: A Caribbean Haven for the Whole Family From a Non Stop Flight to an Array of Activities and Dining Experiences
Kimberly Wilson Wetty spent her family Spring Break in Turks & Caicos at the Grace Bay Club...It was tremendous! This property is only three hours from New York on a non-stop flight, making it a boon for parents traveling with small children. This luxury property features pools for the family, adults only and even one for the exclusive Estate section that consists of one, two and three bedroom suites. Dining in the Estate area features Krave, aptly named as it serves gourmet comfort food, and only for Estate guests. Kidstown, the children's program, has a variety of activities from kite boarding, golf, kayaking, and cooking with the Executive Chef but the one my kids liked the best was the campout on the beach complete with bonfire, no parents allowed! A terrific day trip not to be missed is on Island Vibe. This motorized catamaran will take you to some of the best snorkeling in the area combined with sea turtle and conch searching and BBQ on the beach. Did you know that Turks & Caicos has the 3rd largest barrier reef? Off property there are some great restaurants ranging from local flavor, the Conch Shack, to a fun bar named Somewhere on the Beach to restaurants manned by 5 star chefs who have relocated. Other 4 and 5 star resorts catering to couples, families or girls spa getaways include the Veranda Hotel, Amanyara, Ganesvoort, Parrot Cay and Regent Palms Hotel.

Simply Elegant CuisinArt: A Fine Blend of Luxury Family Fun and Luscious Caribbean Getaway
I took a family trip to Anguilla's luxury resort, the CuisinArt Resort & Spa. What I found was not your typical seaside property, but one that had many offerings outside elegant guest suites situated along the beach. Getting there was quite easy. Flying in from New York, the we took a nonstop flight into St. Martin and then from there one can take a 20-minute ferry ride (preferred) or a private plane/boat to Anguilla. From the port or airstrip, it is a scenic 25-minute ride to CuisinArt. Once you arrive, the first thing you notice is that each room has a wonderful view of the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea. You can find anything from a beautiful 2-bedroom suite to a private villa, making it the perfect place for both families and couples. The suites are comfortably decorated, the resort is one of the few that has a combo of an excellent swimming pool and a gorgeous stretch of white sand beachfront. Water activities abound for the whole family, including day and sunset cruises on the 38-foot catamaran named "Chocolat", kayaks, windsurfers and water tubing. Once you've tired of water sports, the CuisinArt boasts one of the Caribbean's largest spas. The Venus Spa offers various spa treatments including every type of massage imaginable, facials and therapeutic healing water soaks. For those still seeking physical activity, the spa also has personal training and fitness classes with everything from yoga to kickboxing. Children also can enjoy hermit crab races during organized children's programs. The program is geared for younger children, but the a game room is a favorite spot for tweens and teens. In fact, the staff at the Resort is so welcoming to families, one forgets that it also doubles as a romantic getaway for couples and for those seeking a relaxing Caribbean paradise. Unprecedented in the world, it has the first only Resort-run Hydroponic Farm and organic gardens. This state-of-the-art, soil-free growing process produces the freshest and healthiest products for the all of the restaurants on the property and for the spa's organic treatments. Another family activity is the opportunity to tour the 18,000 square foot Hydroponic Farm engineered to withstand high winds. The tour includes a visit to the organic garden that features groves of some local fruits and herbs. Guests directly benefit from the farm as diners can taste the amazing dishes prepared from the fresh fruit and vegetables harvested daily from the farm and gardens. In fact, the cuisine in the resort is so amazingly fresh and well prepared that it rivals the celebrated restaurants located in neighboring Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy. The experience of casual sophistication is the perfect place to relax, engage in activities and enjoy the culture and charm of this truly spectacular island. Anguilla is less developed than its neighbors but has the perfect blend of beach, pool, activities, relaxing spa and fresh delicious cuisine. It is truly a gem.

Rosewood Mayakoba, A Retreat For All Ages on Mexico's Rivera Maya
If you are looking for a special spot to take your children that's worry free with plenty of activities then you should think about Rosewood Mayakoba. Located on the Riviera Maya in a spot where the jungle meets the ocean, Mayakoba is the heart of a 1600 acre luxury resort enclave just south of Cancun. My children and I flew non-stop to Cancun and were greeted at the airport and whisked directly to the hotel which is a beautiful property built of natural materials that fuse the hotel into its surroundings. Guests are then transported by luxury boats or golf carts to their personal sanctuary. Rosewood Mayakoba offers a children's program, Rosebuds, which features a wide range of activities, amenities and experiences designed just for them. During the day, there was an eco-tour of the mangroves that my children enjoyed so much, they took it twice. The highlight of our stay was Pirate's Night. All the children dressed up as pirates, scouring the property during a scavenger hunt. And, while they looked for booty, I had an opportunity to enjoy a quiet moment and a glass of wine while gazing at the stars. This part of the Riviera Maya offers many other activities off property that include water parks, boating excursions, Xcaret, an ecological and archaeological park, dedicated to the Mayan and Mexican cultures and to preserving the environment and ecology of the area as well as sophisticated shopping and fine dining. Rosewood Mayakoba is dedicated to making each and every family vacation an unforgettable experience. For families who want to share vacation fun and quality time together, Rosewood Mayakoba has created a family-friendly environment. And, it is a great resort for couples too! Enjoy the sushi restaurant and fine dining at Casa Del Lago. -Kimberly Wilson Wetty
